Publisher's Description:
Cactus Spam Filter - Cactus Spam Filter is a free easy-to-use spam blocker. It protects your inbox by learning to detect spam as it's being used. After a short while it has adapted to your personal mailbox and blocks out most of the junk e-mail. Since the filter becomes personal, spammers will not be able to fool it. Installation is very simple. No setup is required in your e-mail client; this spam stopper integrates seamlessly with all e-mail clients that use POP3. It has been successfully tested with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, Mozilla Thunderbird, Eudora, Pegasus Mail, IncrediMail, Foxmail, POP Peeper, Command Line POP Client and Phoenix Mail. This anti-spam program learns to detect spam as it's being used, and believe me, Cactus Spam Filter is a fast learner. After a few e-mails it will start to make its own decisions to relieve you from the spam burden. Even though this is a brutal, merciless spam killer, no e-mails will get lost unless you delete them. One of the unique features of Cactus Spam Filter is the ease of use. After you have downloaded and installed it no more settings are required! No account setup, no POP proxies, nothing! Just start your favorite e-mail program and Cactus Spam Filter will instantly protect it! List of Changes:Version 2.12 from 2006-04-16

The program seems to work as advertised, installed with no issues and ran ok. However, I was looking for something which could access POP3 mailboxes and delete spam based on the header info without downloading it. Important to me was that it could do this automatically in the background, and keep a log of what was deleted. I found an alternative product (Spam Weasel) which can be configured as I wish. This product (Cactus) would be excellent for someone who doesn't have such specific needs, and doesn't wish to do much complicated setup, but, on this occasion, it "wasn't for me".

It has been downloaded and is running but is not marking any e-mail nor moving anything into the training area!

Works well once you get it working - setup isn't as easy as it could be and it doesn't detect spam without your intervention which is a good and a bad thing - at least there isn't a problem with wanted emails going out. Some wild card entries for those spammers who consistently make minor changes to their name (eg substitute a 1 for an i) would be helpful. It doesn't cause any problem with my email client (Eudora) and installed very quickly and easily. I'd recommend it, for sure.

I had been using Cactus Spam filter for quite some time when it quit working. I uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple of times and each time it would give me an error message and requested I copy the screen and send it as an attachment which my computer didn't want to do, sooooo I decided to download and older version and it is working fine. Have no idea what the problem is with the other versions, but each time I would install the error message would appear.

Yes I did download this program without a problem intending to use it with Incredimail. However, your program suggested that I needed to additionally download I think IncrediConverter - sadly this seeems to be unavailable anywhere. Your program has therefore been erased.

Just beginning to use the filter. Not enough exposure to comment at this time.

Incredimail and Cactus Spam Filter
I successfully downloaded your program. I then downloaded the Incredimail add-on to make it compatible with Cactus. It advised me to open up all 3 programs at once and follow the prompts. I couldn't do it as it was beyond my expertise so I still don't have your program up and running. If you have any advice I would welcome it. Sincerely, Colleen

New User
I have started using Cactus Spam Filter and am amazed at how efficient it is in rooting out spam from all the email I receive. I'm still in the training mode with it but it has already begun to recognize spam from good messages, saving me much weeding out and deleting of messages. I had previously used the highly rated other program but after using it for over a month, it was not ready to go it alone such as Cactus Spam is for me now. Good job!

New user.
I'm a comparatively new user but my ealy impressions are favourable. However I would like it to be able to stop spam I receive through my talktalk webmail page. Are you likely to extend it to this?

Seems OK
Seems a reasonable program but I just found it difficult to set up and fiddly to use - but you may like it!!

Works Well
A very good program, with very good success at identifying spam. Ocassionally it mis-identifies a "good" message, but that seems to be a rare occurrence. I've found it to be very good at tagging spam messages from penny stock pushers who use graphic images to try to get through a spam filter.
